lessons from Deuteronomy...

I started reading through the Bible in January. And I am LOVING it. Although I was 'born and raised' in the church, there are so many stories that I don't know and so much that God is teaching me through the stories that I do know. I am in Deuteronomy right now and am learning so much. Who knew that the Old Testament could teach me so much? So here are some of the little lessons God is teaching me through HIS words in Deuteronomy...

1:29 - "...Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you." I just love the reminder that I have NO reason to be afraid about anything and that God is going BEFORE me in all situations.

4:29 - "...if you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and all your soul." I love this reminder that I am called to seek Him with my WHOLE heart. There are times when I feel like I am just floating through each day just trying to keep up, but I am called to seek the LORD with my whole heart. As I am still in the 'newness' of being a mother of 2, I need to be reminded of this.

5:32,33 - "So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you so that you may live and prosper..." There are many times, unfortunately, that I do what I want and not necessarily what God wants. There are blessings that come from walking and staying on the path of the Lord. It is not going to be easy at times - it says to be careful, because of the worldly temptations - but there is such reward (whether here on earth or are in heaven) for following the Lord.

11:19 - "Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up." This one really struck me. I have such a responsibility as a mom to teach Pierce and Stella all about God - His commands, His promises, His love, His grace, His free gift of salvation, and so much more. I need to be more intentional with my conversations with my little ones even now. I desire that they love Jesus more than anything and it starts with me (and Justin) even now as they are small children.

I pray that God continues to show me more as I continue to read through His words. I pray that He continues to open my heart and mind to learning more so that I can become more like Jesus.

What is HE teaching you today??
