"Is that the idiots?"

"Is that the idiots?"
(A brand new Celtic fan in the family)

During our discharge from the hospital, and while a nurse was wheeling all three of to the elevators to make our grand exit, we heard those words... "Is that the idiots?"

As it turns out, that's not exactly what was said. We rolled past a nurse's station and the older, street-sounding nurse actually asked, "Is that Eighty-Eight?"--a reference to our room number--but not what we heard.

We thought the woman was referring to us opting not to stay an additional night with the care of the professionally trained staff at the hospital. So, were we idiots for leaving?

Well, before "the idiots" made the choice to go home, we had a great, and quiet day on Saturday. The highlights included Joanna taking a shower (first since Thursday), eating real food and walking the halls to get some excercise. Here's a couple of pics of the friends that came by and the big moments in Pierce's day.

Before we left, Pierce donned his Celtics garb and loaded up in the car seat.

(Just look at that outfit, he's ready for pre-game layups.)

When we arrived home--Gram, PawPaw, Uncle Kracker, Aunt Heather, Cousin Will and Cousin Hillary were here to welcome us. Duncan was here as well--we had missed him and not seen him since we left for the hospital last Thursday. He was super-excited to meet Pierce, and his immediate reaction was to lick his hands and the top of his head.

Later in the day, Nene, Papa Bert and others came by to see Pierce.

Duncan's been quite the snuggler since being home. He's so good with Pierce, interested but not concerned and guarded with all of us. In fact, today, Justin, Duncan and Pierce had story time with Green Eggs and Ham. All three were laid out in the floor of Pierce's room.

The whole thing has been a challenge--not because of a single or recurring problem--but because it just is. Our lives have been stuck in that >>>> four-arrow DVR fast-forward since Pierce arrived on Thursday, and now, here we are at the house, sleep-deprived and solely focused on meeting each need of each member of our family (Justin, Joanna, Pierce and Duncan).
